How often do you think about having your dryer vent cleaned? Are you aware of the potential risks and dangers that a clothes dryer poses to you and your family?  Although you may not realize it, dryer vent cleaning is an important step to take to keep you and your family safe. Purge staff have over 20 years of experience in this field as well as the other services that we provide.

There are many injuries (and some deaths) every year due to fires that start from clothes dryers.

Is Your Dryer Vent A Potential Fire Hazard?

Some studies put this number as high as 16,000 fires a year.  Most of these disasters could have been avoided by taking the simple step of cleaning out the dryer vent.

Dryers heat up to extremely high temperatures and thus pose a fire hazard.  Safety precautions and security measures need to be taken with your clothes dryer just as you would with any other appliance that produces heat in your home. Scheduling a service call to have your dryer vent lines cleaned is the first step to a more safer environment for your home.

What consequences can a clogged dryer vent have on you and your home?

A clogged dryer vent does not allow for the clothes dryer to exhaust properly. Gas clothes dryers that become clogged have the potential to cause Carbon Monoxide to back fill into your home.   A restricted dyer vent that reduces air flow and causes your dryer to run hotter and longer will substantially impact the appliances energy efficiency. Excess heat created by poor air flow can ruin your clothes, add dollars to your home’s energy bill and increase the wear and tear on your appliance. Clothes dryers are one of the most expensive appliances in your home to operate. The longer it runs, the more money it costs you.

If your dryer takes twice as long to dry clothes as it should, the number of loads that it will dry in its lifetime is substantially reduced as well.

When your dryer vent is clogged it can cost you a ton of money by using lots more energy than necessary.  The material clogged in the dryer vent is an ideal breeding ground for molds that can sicken your entire family.  If your dryer is gas operated you can even get carbon monoxide seeping into your home with dangerous consequences.

Dryer Vent Reverse Purge Cleaning

If you click on the video, you can see just how PURGE is different from other companies.  We use what we call 'Reverse Purge Technology'!  A special high pressure air hose with a unique reverse direction tip that is inserted into the dryer vent duct.  We are then able to control the pressure level as we pull back, removing the lint debris.

Once the lint is removed, we use a special H.E.P.A. (High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance) vacuum system to properly dispose of the lint.

The next step in the process is to remove the flexible hose behind the dryer and thoroughly clean out any lint that has accumulated.

PURGE PLUS PLAN

Entry Level Cleaning!

Perform Full Cleaning Of The Main Dryer Vent

PURGE will perform a complete reverse purge of the existing main dryer vent duct system.

Your PURGE technician will perform multiple purging runs to make sure that the main duct line is completely free of any lint and debris.

This ensures the quality of your dryer performance and safety!

Disassemble The Flexible Connection Behind The Dryer And Remove Any Lint Build Up

Your PURGE technician will disassemble the flexible connection behind the dryer and thoroughly clean out any lint and debris to ensure maximum dryer performance and safety.

At this time an inspection of the existing flexible line will be performed for any tears or holes.

Perform Thorough Cleaning Of The Dryer

(Internal dryer vent pathway)

Using a specialized vacuum in combination with 150 P.S.I. (Pounds Per Square Inch) wand, your PURGE technician will purge the internal vent path of the clothes dryer itself.

This will ensure maximum dryer vent performance and safety for you and your family.

Testing The Dryer Vent Pathway

Using what's called a computerized air velocity flow meter, your PURGE technician will perform a 'before and after' test on the clothes dryer vent airflow, and in many cases there is a definitive increase of airflow. This should give you, the homeowner, peace of mind that the PURGE cleaning process was completed correctly and that the increased airflow can help your clothes dry faster.

Install Purge Armor Vent!

Replace the flexible connection behind the dryer and install a new 'all metal' flexible vent connection.

Most manufacturers specify the use of a rigid or corrugated semi-rigid metal duct, which provides maximum airflow! The flexible plastic or foil type duct can more easily trap lint and is more susceptible to kinks or crushing, which can greatly reduce the airflow. This material can become highly flammable over time.

Furnish And Install An In-Line Lint Filter

Finding ways to reduce home energy costs is a priority for every homeowner today. The Dryer Duct Lint Trap will help save you money as well as reduce the risk of dryer fire by keeping your dryer duct clean and free of lint.

This product acts as a secondary lint trap for your electric clothes dryer. It installs easily onto your dryer transition duct and collects additional lint that is not captured by the standard dryer lint trap. This helps to eliminate unwanted and excess lint within the duct and reduces the risk of a dryer fire occurring.

Install a Lint Alert Safety Monitor System.

Air pressure samples are analyzed by a small on-board computer and shows whether the dryer is on and how the exhaust system is performing.

Changes are shown through a simple to understand LED interface where green indicators turn to yellow and then red as pressure becomes more problematic. Optimal performance is shown with a single green indicator glowing. As airflow naturally becomes restricted over time, the second, then third green indicator will illuminate. This is a good time to clean the dryer and duct system for best energy efficiency and safety.  In the event the system is not cleaned at that point, the yellow and red indicators will eventually illuminate. Once pressure becomes dangerous (or there is a sudden obstruction) all LED's flash in unison and an audio alarm sounds.
